From the start of Hospital Radio Bedford on 28th June 1975 it has had various homes as studios. The first was a combined studio housing all the records plus all the broadcasting equipment and also a reception/waiting area next door to the then Hospital Telephone Exchange.
Some time later we were housed in an air-conditioned portacabin which is where the Maternity Wing currently stands.
From there we were offered by the hospital our current studios beneath X-ray Department, which were purpose built to accommodate two control rooms, a talks studio, library and reception area. March 2014 eventually was when after several years of suffering underground during the warm months, air conditioning was installed.
This event was most welcome not only to help the members but also to maintain suitable temperatures for the broadcasting equipment.
HRB can be proud of many achievements including attending many local events and other broadcasting activities covering live outside broadcasts including the bi-annual Bedford River Festival.
