Fundraising
Providing enough money for the day-to-day running costs of Hospital Radio Bedford is not an easy task. A percentage of our funds is raised through subscriptions but most of it is obtained by donations and the many fundraising events we hold throughout the year.
Fundraising appears to be a British pastime; charity collectors can be seen at the weekends in most town centres, standing in all weathers shaking a tin in anticipation. Although it is against the law to shake a tin, it's usually so cold that shaking is a spontaneous reaction!
A Hospital Radio Bedford fundraiser's lot is not an 'appy one, mainly because of the difficult task of trying to organise exciting and original events that will persuade Mr & Mrs Joe Public to part with their hard earned money.
Hospital Radio Bedford members have raised money by flag days, sponsored events and even the sale of duplicate records. We have also raised money by setting up and operating short-term FM radio stations. Finally we must not forget the famous HRB tombola stall, which can be found at a number of fun days in the area during the summer months.
We are very grateful to the Hospital for providing our home within the main building, without which our organisation would not be able to operate. Our thanks are also due to all those who fill our tins on flag day, buy tickets for our tombola stall and make donations of any kind that help our organisation to keep operating. Everything gratefully received helps us to run an interesting and varied radio service for all the patients in Bedford Hospital.
If you feel that you could support Hospital Radio Bedford by either sponsoring the request programme or providing prizes for the tombola, please contact us.
